26 kilometers of limestone walls, hidden waterfalls, and slow-moving turquoise water. The Osumi from a tube is the calmest way to see it.
Book Your Tubing TripThe Osumi Canyon is one of the most extraordinary geological features in the Balkans — a 26-kilometer gorge that the river has carved into solid limestone over three million years. The walls rise as high as 80 meters above the water. Most visitors experience the canyon through classic rafting tours, but in late summer when the river slows and the water is at its warmest, river tubing becomes the better option for anyone who wants to enjoy the canyon at a slower pace.
From a tube, you can stop, swim, drift, and look up at the canyon walls without having to focus on paddling. It is the closest thing to floating through a cathedral made of stone.
Up to 80 meters high, the canyon walls feel almost cathedral-like. From a tube floating slowly downstream, you have all the time in the world to look up and take it in.
The canyon hides side waterfalls and natural swimming pools you cannot reach by raft. From a tube we can pull over and explore on foot before continuing.
Compared to summer Vjosa, the Osumi sees fewer tubing groups. You often have stretches of the canyon entirely to yourselves.
Osumi tubing season is shorter than Vjosa — late June through mid-September is the sweet spot, when water levels drop enough that the river is calm and warm. Earlier in spring the Osumi runs too fast for tubing; that is when our rafting trips on the Osumi shine. If you want both the slow float and the rapids, look at our multi-day packages that combine tubing with rafting across both rivers.
