Navigate through towering 80-meter canyon walls, discover hidden waterfalls, and swim in crystal-clear natural pools in one of Europe's most dramatic landscapes.
Book Your Adventure NowOsumi Canyon is one of Albania's most spectacular natural wonders — a 26-kilometer gorge carved over millions of years by the Osum River into massive limestone formations. The canyon walls rise up to 80 meters above the water, creating a dramatic corridor of sculpted rock that has been compared to the Grand Canyon, but with a character entirely its own. Unlike its American counterpart, you do not just look at Osumi Canyon — you raft right through it.
As you paddle through the canyon, the scale of the geology around you is humbling. Sunlight filters through narrow passages, illuminating hidden waterfalls that cascade down moss-covered walls. Natural pools of turquoise water invite you to stop and swim. The echoing silence, broken only by the sound of water and birdsong, creates an atmosphere that feels almost sacred. Many of our guests describe Osumi Canyon as the single most impressive natural experience they have had in Europe.
Difficulty: Class II-III (Intermediate)
The rafting route takes you through the most scenic section of the canyon. You will navigate moderate rapids interspersed with calm stretches where you can take in the immense walls towering above. The route includes stops at natural pools and waterfalls for swimming and photography.
Full-Day Adventure
The complete Osumi Canyon experience takes a full day. This includes transport from the meeting point, a safety briefing, approximately 4-5 hours on the water, swimming stops, and return transport. We recommend arriving early to make the most of the daylight.
April - June (Peak)
Osumi Canyon is at its best from April through June when water levels are high enough for a thrilling ride and the waterfalls are flowing at full force. July and August are possible but water levels drop. The canyon is typically not navigable from November through March.
We pick up from hotels in Berat and Corovode. Guests from Tirana can join with an early morning departure — the drive is approximately 2.5 hours via the scenic mountain road.
Moderate fitness is recommended. You should be comfortable swimming and able to paddle for extended periods. The canyon involves some walking on uneven terrain to access the launch point. Minimum age is 14 years.
Swimwear, secure water shoes (mandatory — no flip-flops), sunscreen, towel, change of clothes, and a waterproof camera. We provide waterproof phone bags and all technical gear.
